Balancing Act: 7 Steps to Thrive as a Content Creator with a 9 to 5″

As easy as it may look being an influencer isn’t always a simple task, but if you have a plan in place, it can be one of the most rewarding things ever. Whether you are just starting or vet in the thing. Here are a few steps that can help with being successful as creator with a full-time job.

  1. Set goals – Sit down with a pen & write down where you envision your life. Be specific when you do it. Ex. Set goals of how much you want to make a month. Once you have the goals written down start creating a routine to meet those goals.
  2. Leverage Tools and Automation: Use scheduling tools and automation platforms to plan and post content in advance. Social media scheduling tools, such as Buffer or Hootsuite, can help you maintain an active online presence without constantly being online.
  3. Optimize Productivity – This is the time you will work harder than you ever have. Which means you could have to work night or day. Make the most of your limited free time by optimizing your productivity. Identify your most productive hours and reserve those for content creation. Minimize distractions, set specific goals for each session, and focus on high-impact tasks.
  4. Diversify your sources of income and have multiple streams – You can teach people things, by offering a service. Some ways to make money – are brand campaigns, hosted events, affiliate links, commissions, YouTube, selling e-books, templates, blog posts, courses, or even physical products. Also, remember to charge your worth, you can’t be cheap when trying to elevate your brand.
  5. Surround yourself with likeminded people – A tribe is so important and much needed. I say this all the time it’s ok to make friends and your same area or field because if anyone understand the hustle of it all they will. S/O to all of my creative friends they are truly heaven sent. The sisterhood runs deep around here!
  6. Take breaks– Yes, I said it! Don’t forget to take breaks and live in the moment. It’s ok to slow down a little bit. Create boundaries that work for you.
  7. (F)**k a niche Do it all my love – Know your audience, age, education, & income but don’t put yourself into a box. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new content ideas. If you notice that certain topics resonate more with your audience, consider incorporating them more regularly. Stay agile and be willing to pivot based on what works best.

Now I know it’s a lot of different steps you can take on this creator journey, but these are a few things I’m incorporating as a 9-5 woman. Remember, consistency is key in content creation. While it may be challenging to balance a full-time job and content creation, staying organized, setting priorities, and optimizing your time will help you achieve success in both areas. Adjust your strategy as needed and celebrate small wins along the way.

Until Next Time,

XOXO

Tiffany
